Asthma Cure

Asthma Cure

Although many people grow out of asthma as they get older they’re isn’t actually a cure for it. In fact one of the main reasons a cure hasn’t been found is because no one is 100% sure of it’s cause, which is why at present all we have are a bunch of symptom relieving medications.

This medication is great, however it’s only effective when it’s combined with active planning, management and preparation for moments of emergency. If the right prep work is done the condition can be kept under a level of control which enables the sufferer to undertake the same activities as his peers but with no care the medication can often render useless in cases of extreme emergency.

So what’s next ? Well what we do know about asthma is that there are several factors that need to be considered when looking at it’s source. What we’re referring to here are gene related factors, neo natal health issues and exposure to certain environments. To better understand some of common issues that have been strongly linked to asthma take a look at the list below:

  • Children who were not breastfed by their mother often have a weak immune system.
  • Infants who have been subjected to the exposure of smoke or those whose mothers were exposed (either first or second-hand) during pregnancy.
  • Children who reside in an area where pollution is high.
  • Children who have resisted any exposure to viruses and bacteria during childhood and fail to develop a strong immune system. In many cases these children have developed asthma in their adult lives.
  • Children with a family history of eczema, asthma, or other respiratory problems are seen as being more susceptible to having asthma.
  • Children who are exposed to low quality air circulation when spending too much time indoors. These very same kids by default are also more exposed to furnished and carpeted areas which can often harbour mites and other spore-forming molds.

So what’s happening about this cure ? Well many researchers believe that to have any chance of discovering a cure, it’s going to take a combination study of both the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to the disease.

Despite the different theories regarding what to research some scientists believe that even if a cure cannot be found mothers need to be better educated about the environmental effects that smoking and other activities can have on the development of asthma in children. Carefully avoiding situations that lead to an increased chance of asthma development both during pregnancy and during the infant years will greatly reduce asthma, thus negating the need for a cure.

The above prevention is better than cure rhetoric is great but what about those that simply inherit it due to genetic reasons. Well the great news is that scientists are still working hard to find that all elusive cure but when the break through will come, no one really knows.
