Asthma attack ? Or just bronchitis ?
My little sister whom I have custody of had viral induced asthma as as a child. She is 11 now and hasnt needed medication for it since she was 6 which was after I left home and before I had custody of her. I do know she never needed Ventolin and only took daily pulmacourt and only ever had two asthma attacks.
She has some bronchitis and the doctor prescribed antibiotics and a cough syrup with Codeine. She gets into these coughing fits where she sounds like she is barking and she will cough so hard she starts to gag and she has to pee or will lose control of her bladder.
In between the coughing she gasps for air and these episodes will last for 10 minutes and come quickly one after the other maybe at ten minute intervals and will go on for an hour and they are happening once or twice a day.
After she is completely out of breath shell make a whistling sound while she catches her breath. This wasnt happening when I took her to the doctor. My question is are these asthma attacks or just results of the bronchitis ? Should I take her back to the doctor?

It sounds like asthma to me. I have asthma and it happens just like that I suggest you take her to the doctor and tell the doc what you told us.
The bronchitis can trigger the asthma. She needs to go back to get an inhaler or nebulizer.
Definitely take her back to the doctor if shes like that for more than a couple days. I got sick when I was 14 and they treated me for bronchitis when I actually had pneumonia. I was sick at home for a little over a month and I developed fullon asthma from it and Im still taking preventative medicine for it Im almost 22 now. It might really be bronchitis and its just a stubborn case but its always better too be safe than sorry and a doctors visit now might prevent a hospital visit later. I hope your sister is all right.
